December 2005
Dear friends and family,
On October 19th, after 37 years, Glennah and I (Elizabeth)
saw each other again. We had been school friends, but had
lost track of each other. There has been much joy in re-establishing
our friendship and sharing our journeys of almost four decades.
This reunion epitomizes what has been the trademark of the
past six months away from Colombia: the renewal and celebration
of relationships. Ties with many friends have been refreshed
as we have had the opportunity to visit and share face to
face or over the phone. We treasure your loyal friendship
in spite of distance and time.
Our partnership with churches and individuals that support
us through prayer and funds has been nourished through sharing
in Sunday school classes, prayer groups, church services and
small groups. We are deeply thankful for their faithful companionship;
in some cases during the 32 years since Don left for Colombia
under LAM. How memorable it was to visit Donna, in Montana!
She has prayed for us for two decades, without ever meeting
us in person.
Family relations have been renewed as we have visited with
relatives in Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota and California.
It has been great to meet new members of the family, through
birth or marriage. Our marriage commitment has reached a new
stage as we celebrate 30 years together.
Our walk with the Lord has been invigorated through quite,
unrushed times to hear His voice, prayer, service and worship
with His people, the beauty of His creation and stimulating
books.
During the past months we have been cared for and loved by
many of you. You have taken time to visit and renew our relationship,
you have supplied us wonderful meals and warm comfortable
beds, you have offered listening ears and wise advise, gifts
and prayers, and much more. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
On Jan. 10th we will leave from the Bay Area, en route to
Colombia. Elizabeth will spend a week teaching in Hawaii,
before joining Don in So. California. From Jan. 19th to Feb.
1st. we will drive back to Florida, flying to Medellin on
Feb. 4th.
As we return to Colombia, we ask you to pray for:
" Flexibility, passion and humility in our service at
the seminary
" Sale of our car when we get to Miami, prior to returning
to Colombia.
" Peace conversations between the Colombian government
and armed groups.
May Christ, the one who came to restore our relationship
with God and with one another, fill you with His peace and
joy this Christmas season and in the coming year.
Don and Elizabeth Sendek
